... And that's a wrap for Season 11!
Hard to believe we've already finished 11 seasons of Renegade Hockey but here we are!
Congrats to the Pirates and Mavericks on their championship seasons! A couple notes:
- Nate Henke became the first Renegade player to win 2 championships in one night! Nate's played in both the Skill division and Treachery division the last 2 years and last night both of his teams hoisted their respective trophies!
- James Brown (and son Aiden) repeated as Treachery division champion but in a different role ... last year James played defense for Skullduggery, and this year he was the goalie for the Pirates.
- Both champions started slow this year ... the Pirates started 0-2 and scored a total of 1 goal in those 2 games! They quickly figured it out, going 10-2-3 the rest of the way, and also leading the league in goals scored while allowing the fewest goals against. The Mavericks caught fire at the right time, too, starting 1-7-4 before winning 4 of their last 5!
Big thanks to Lucas, Dan and the rest of the Breslow staff - they've been a great partner for us the last 11 years and we're grateful to have ice for summer hockey in Lincoln!
Thanks also to our scorekeeper and referee gang ... I'll probably miss some people here - not intentionally - but thanks to Karen, Bruce, Brian, Sam, Blake and anyone else who helped us with officiating or scorekeeping! Every role is important to make the machine run smoothly and we're grateful for all of you.
Kudos to our captains for their willingness to lead a team and keep order in the locker rooms and on the bench each week - Patrick Lowe, Tad Edgerton, Matt Sobansky, Nick Dahlberg, Marshall Schiring and Elijah Carpenter.
To the friends and family who come to the rink to watch on Tuesday nights ... we're sorry you have nothing better to do, but it's always good to see bodies in the stands!
And to the players ... the league doesn't exist without all of you, so we're truly grateful that you sign up every season and keep coming back! Hope to see you again next spring when it'll be time for Season 12!
